Beach Tour. Last year the twins went
on to capture GOLD at The 08 National Championships in CA. They have a good start already in 09 The twins play regularly in GCVA beach
events and play indoor for Pearland Juniors Volleyball Club.

BEACH PASSES Beach passes will be available this Sunday at the beach (C gate
I think) If you are coming in and are buying a beach please don’t pay the $7
or $8 to park… Just tell them you want the beach pass. Beach passes are $25 (at least they have
been for the last few years) and are good for the entire year at all city
beach parks. This year you
cannot renew by phone but they will sell the pass at Stewart Beach Park this
year. FREE PARKING
There is free parking at Brodies
Restaurant at the MAIN GATE. There is also
FREE parking at the east gate. Look
for the sign at the east gate; the road is on the left near the gate. The lot
is in-between the Sand Piper hotel and Stewart beach (pretty close)

Volleyball July 24, 2008 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 24, 2008) – The sport of
“sand volleyball,” also known as beach volleyball, took a step toward being
recognized by the NCAA, the Association announced Tuesday. The NCAA’s Committee on Women’s Athletics voted to recommend
that a governance entity from each of the divisions sponsor legislation to
add sand volleyball to the list of emerging sports for women……… USA Volleyball Surveying Junior Beach
Players With
the success of 2008 and the anticipation of 2009 in the beach volleyball
world, USA Volleyball is asking for the help of junior beach players. USAV
is interested in feedback from junior players as it looks to expand its
current Beach High Performance tryout (formerly known as the International
Selection Camp) and Performance Camp schedule. In
order to best assess and address the needs of beach athletes in all regions,
USAV is looking for juniors to fill out the linked survey and give your

ELITE WOMEN’S COLLEGIATE BEACH VOLLEYBALL
TO BE SHOWCASED ON CBS SPORTS AND COLLEGE SPORTS NETWORK CBS College Sports Network, AVCA and AVP Partner to Host Fourth
Annual Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship in Riverside, Calif. Network Returns Reality Program “Go Pro or Go Home” CBS College Sports Network,
along with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and AVP Pro
Beach Volleyball, are again teaming up to stage an elite event featuring the
nation’s top women’s collegiate volleyball players. The 2009
Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship will be held in downtown
Riverside, Calif. on Saturday, April 18, in conjunction with the AVP
Crocs Tour Riverside Open. The Championship is part of the fourth
annual Alt Games, a first-of-its kind event showcasing college action
sports championships. The beach volleyball
championship showcases the nation’s top women’s collegiate volleyball players
in a team-style format with each school fielding four teams of two
players. Following the conclusion of the event, one school will be
awarded the overall Championship. The elite roster of teams
include *No. 3-ranked University of Nebraska, *No. 4-ranked University
of Texas, *No. 7-ranked University of Hawaii, *No.
13-ranked USC, *No. 16-ranked University of Utah, *No.
19-ranked University of San Diego, University of North Carolina and
UC Riverside. Extensive television coverage
of the Alt Games and beach volleyball championship kicks-off with a special
one-hour program airing on CBS Sports on Saturday, May 16 (2:00
PM, ET). The show launches three weeks of Olympic style and sports specific
programming on CBS College Sports Network, which includes the return of the Network’s
popular reality program “GO PRO OR GO HOME.” Go Pro or Go Home will
air as a two-part series that brings viewers on-the-sand and
behind-the-scenes during a special AVP Invitational Elite Camp/Combine held
in Hermosa Beach, Calif. for the nation’s top 16 graduating senior collegiate
women’s volleyball players. The combine features skills
instruction from top professional players including Gold Medal Olympians
Kerri Walsh, Phil Dalhausser, Todd Rogers. The combine concludes with a round
robin tournament that awards the winning team with a main draw berth at an
AVP Crocs Tour event (specific event is to be determined). Go Pro or
Go Home will document the emotion and excitement of the winning team,
leading up to and during their AVP Tour debut. The Collegiate Beach Volleyball
Championship will adhere strictly to NCAA guidelines for participation. “The Collegiate Beach
Volleyball Championship has been at the forefront of the movement to add Sand
Volleyball as an NCAA sport,” said Kathy DeBoer, Executive Director,
AVCA. “We anticipate the NCAA adding it to the Emerging Sports
list for women next month, which would pave the way for colleges and
universities to sponsor it as a varsity sport beginning with the 2010-2011
academic year.” “Together with the AVCA and
AVP, we have developed an event that has significantly helped grow and
promote the sport of beach volleyball while showcasing the best collegiate
programs and players in women’s volleyball,” said Billy Stone, Executive

NCAA Approves Sand Volleyball as Emerging Sport
(April 21, 2009) – The NCAA Division I Legislative
Council added sand volleyball to the list of emerging sports for women, it
was announced today, clearing the way for schools to use the sport toward
minimum sponsorship requirements and minimum financial aid awards. NCAA
Division II had already voted to add sand volleyball to the emerging sports
list at the 2009 NCAA Convention in January. “The opportunity to play sand volleyball in the spring will spur
growth in the sport. I wish I had that opportunity when I was at Stanford,”
said 2008 Olympic Beach Gold Medalist, Kerri Walsh. “Additionally, this
development will give more women an opportunity for a professional volleyball
career in the United States." Capitalizing
on the recent success of USA Volleyball’s beach teams in the Olympics and the
growth in grassroots programs, the NCAA’s Committee on Women’s Athletics made
the recommendation to add the sport to the emerging sports list last summer. "The
United States has a proud and successful history in sand volleyball, having
won at least one gold medal in every Summer Games since the discipline was
added to the Olympic program in 1996,” said USAV CEO Doug Beal. “This move by
the NCAA is wonderful, particularly in light of the increased varsity
athletic opportunities for young women at the collegiate level and the
synergy with already existing USA Volleyball programs.” "The
addition of sand volleyball as an NCAA sport will help us grow the discipline
and increase its visibility around the country,” said Ali Wood Lamberson, USA
Volleyball’s Director of Beach Programs. “Along with USA Volleyball's already
existing Beach High Performance and Development Programs and the USA Beach
Junior Tour, NCAA sand volleyball opportunities will start young athletes
looking at beach as an option much earlier in their careers. This will
help the United States sustain our level of competitive excellence.
Further, USAV is poised to support NCAA sand volleyball with various programs
including coach and official education programs.” The
NCAA will call the new sport “sand” volleyball, rather than “beach”
volleyball, in hopes that the sport will have broad appeal across the country
and not be confined to coastal areas. Already schools including The
University of Texas, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Utah
are competing in collegiate competitions in the spring. “The
addition of sand volleyball to the list of collegiate options is significant
for our sport,” said Kathy DeBoer, Executive Director of the American
Volleyball Coaches Association. “With more than 400,000 girls playing high
school volleyball, we welcome the addition of collegiate roster spots.” The
group most responsible for spreading the popularity of the sport beyond the
California coast is the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) which
hosts a series of competitions on man-made courts at in-land locations like
Cincinnati, Ohio, Atlanta, Ga., and Las Vegas, Nev. The AVP also
sponsors a series of indoor sand competitions in January and February called
“Hot Winter Nights” in cold-weather cities like Omaha, Ne. and Grand Rapids,
Mich. “We
are thrilled that the NCAA has voted to make sand volleyball a collegiate
sport,” said Jason Hodell, CEO of AVP Pro Beach Volleyball. “The vote
confirms the momentum behind the sport of beach volleyball, and we are
excited to help grow our sport on the college level and create new beach
volleyball stars around the country.” The
NCAA will spend the next year developing the rules that will govern sand
volleyball as a collegiate sport, including regulations on financial aid,
playing dates and recruiting. Institutions will be able to sponsor
